Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science (Mass Academy) is a school of excellence for 100 academically accelerated Massachusetts juniors and seniors. It was established in 1992 by the State Legislature to provide an enriching educational opportunity that emphasizes math and science in a comprehensive and interactive academic environment.
The rigor of the junior year curriculum exceeds that of traditional Honors and Advanced Placement courses and involves more than 1,100 hours of academic instruction. For senior year, students are enrolled in classes at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), a premiere technological university, which makes Mass Academy the only school in Massachusetts where all students attend a private university full-time while they are seniors in high school.
