Walden Chamber Players Perform at Mass Academy
On Friday, April 5, at 7:00 pm, Mass Academy will present the 15th Annual Concert by the Walden Chamber Players, a Boston-area Chamber ensemble that has participated in an Artists in Residency program at Mass Academy since 2005.
This concert culminates a three-day interactive program during which the musicians and Mass Academy juniors will have explored, analyzed, and discussed the interrelationships of music, art, literature, and history. The focus of this year’s program is the transition from Classicism to Romanticism.
The music selections that will be performed during the concert are Joseph Haydn’s London Trio in C Major (which will feature Mass Academy senior Aria Kydd playing violin), Mozart’s Piano Trio in B-flat Major, Beethoven’s String Trio in G Major, and Robert Schumann’s Piano Quartet in E-flat Major.
The musical performances will be augmented and enhanced by information about the composers and the music pieces, reading selections, and slide projections of paintings contemporaneous with the composers’ lives – all of which will be presented by Mass Academy juniors.
The concert, which will be held in the Mass Academy Brickyard, is free and open to the public. Parents and family members of Mass Academy students, friends, and members of the WPI community are encouraged to attend.
The doors open for seating at 6:15 pm, and the concert begins promptly at 7:00 pm. The event should conclude by 9:30 pm.
